Composition: Malin Bång | Libretto: Pat To Yan

After Hong Kong writer Pat To Yan’s discussion with Barbara Mittler (“Epochal Life Worlds: Man, Nature and Technology in Narratives of Crisis and Change”) on Hong Kong and the role of arts in shaping society, the Nationaltheater Mannheim shows “The Damned and the Saved”, a co-operation between the Swedish composer Malin Bång and Pat To Yan. The play traces the story of two young women who try to challenge the repressive totalitarian system they live in, each choosing a different path in times of crisis and rupture. It engages with acts of resistance, aspirations of change and challenges for friendship in a world of repression and violence. Read more
