In memory of our dear friend and colleague Chen Hao 陈昊

 

It is with great shock and sadness that we have learned of the passing of our dear colleague Chen Hao, who was a visiting fellow within our project “Worldmaking from a Global Perspective: A Dialogue with China” and stayed with us in Heidelberg during the summer semester 2023. During his time with us, he worked on the entanglements between humans and the environment during the Corona pandemic, thereby illustrating his enormous breadth of scholarship, which stretched from the medical history of medieval China to important topics of the 21st century. Chen Hao was an exemplary colleague and friend, always helpful, good-spirited, and full of humor, and his contributions to our project as well as to the sinological community at Heidelberg University will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and his colleagues around the world whom we send our heartfelt condolences and much strength during these challenging times.
